The S.S. Bohemain struck a ledge in a storm and broke up off Black Rock outside Halifax Harbour, near Sambro Island, in 1920. Five hundred and twelve feet of iron, and displacing over five thousand tons, this giant of the Leyland Line was twenty years old when she foundered on her way from Boston to Liverpool, UK. Of the one hundred and eighty-four souls on board, only seven were lost along with all the vessels cargo.
